1953 Bowman

Bowman Baseball Card and Gum Sales were slammed by Topps in 1952 - so Bowman pulled out all the stops in 1953. The result was the 160 card 1953 Bowman Color Baseball Card Set, which in my opinion is the most beautiful vintage set ever produced.
The 1953 Bowman Baseball Card Set featured the first multiple player cards: #44 has Yankee stars Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Hank Bauer, and card #93 features Billy Martin and Phil Rizzuto. With no major rookies, the key cards to own are #32 Stan Musial, #33 a great action shot of Pee Wee Reese turning a double play, #59 Mickey Mantle, #121 Yogi Berra and the classic #153 Whitey Ford. Just think, you could have bought a five pack of these cards in 1953 for a nickel!
